What Cookies Are

A cookie is a small text file a site stores on your device and reads back on each visit. In this policy we also use “cookies” to mean browser local storage, because it does the same job — remembering something between visits — and is managed in much the same way.

Which Cookies We Use

These are the categories, with the actual names you will see in your browser.

Strictly necessary

The site does not work without them, so they cannot be switched off. We use them to:

  • Keep you signed in and refresh your session securely (Supabase authentication cookies, named with an sb- prefix).
  • Detect whether this is a new browser session (eg-browser-session).
  • Keep your cart between visits (elgrupito_cart, in local storage).
  • Protect checkout and your account against fraud, together with the cookies our payment processors set during payment.

Preferences

They remember the choices you make so we do not ask again:

  • Your language (NEXT_LOCALE, up to one year).
  • Your display currency (preferred_currency, in local storage).
  • The light or dark theme you pick (theme).
  • Whether you asked us to remember your email at sign-in (rememberMe).

Analytics

They tell us what works and what does not, in aggregate. We use PostHog (cookies named like ph_…_posthog) to learn:

  • Which pages are visited, and in what order.
  • How long is spent on each page.
  • Which errors show up, and how the site performs.
  • Which features are used and which are not, and which variants we show in our product tests.

Payment and activation pages are excluded from our session recordings, and sensitive fields — passwords, emails, and card details — are always masked.

Support

Our live chat and Help Centre (Crisp) store an identifier and your conversation history so you do not have to repeat your case every time you write.

Attribution and referrals

When you arrive from an affiliate or campaign link, we store a click identifier (dub_id, from Dub) so that referral gets credited and the right commission is calculated. It exists to attribute the sale, not to profile you or show you ads elsewhere.

Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies are set by services we embed in our pages. Each one handles data under its own privacy policy:

  • PostHog — Product analytics and usage metrics.
  • Stripe and 1D3 — Payment processing, fraud prevention, and checkout security.
  • Crisp — Live chat and the Help Centre.
  • Dub — Attribution of referral and affiliate program links.
  • Google and Meta — Sign-in with Google or Facebook, when you choose that option.

How Long They Last

It depends on what they are for:

  • Session cookies are deleted when you close the browser.
  • Authentication cookies last as long as your session stays active, and refresh while you use the site.
  • Your language is remembered for up to a year; your currency, theme, and cart stay in local storage until you clear them.
  • Analytics and attribution cookies last at most one year from your last visit.

How to Control Them

It is your call. Most browsers let you:

  • See which cookies are stored on your device.
  • Delete all of them, or just some.
  • Block all cookies, or only third-party ones.
  • Set different preferences for each website.

Local storage is cleared from those same settings, usually under “site data” or “stored data.” Your ability to limit cookies depends on what your browser allows.

If you block strictly necessary cookies you will not be able to sign in, keep a cart, or complete a purchase. Blocking the rest does not stop you using the site: it just means we remember less and see less about what to improve.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when the cookies we use, the technology, or the law changes. We will publish the new version on this same page with an updated revision date.
